Let's get your news year's resolution going with a bang! With a team or solo lifter (for the experienced or very dedicated beginner), lift a combined 1 million kilos over the course of 2024!

To achieve this lofty but absolutely achievable goal, an average lift of 20,000kg a week would be required. This would be divided between the number of times you train weekly. Ie. 10,000kg x twice weekly or 5,oookg x 4 times weekly.

Lbs for £
For the weight to be counted, it must be a physical weight such as a bar bell, dumb bell, kettle bell etc. Body weight exercises such as pull/chin ups, parallel bar dips, muscle ups, hand stand push ups etc can count but not body weight squats or push ups. The full body weight must be moved.

The most efficient way of achieving this goal is through compound lifts such as deadlift, squat, leg press, pulley row, shoulder press and chest press. Training with variants of these lifts generally make the biggest fitness gains too due to recruiting a larger muscle mass to complete the lift.

Safety first
We cannot stress enough that this goal is for fun, to raise well needed funds for GWAAC and build a greater level of strength and fitness. With this in mind, safety must be paramount. If you are new or returning to the gym, please ask for help from a qualified trainer to support you. Consider the right weight for the right exercise with the right technique. Remember, the weight you lift in January may be less than what you hope to achieve. But, if you are consistently consistent, then the weight you lift in November will be twice or even more than what you could have hoped for!  Injuries suck! Let's be safe together.
